


"There's no end to your power, Lord!" What's clear to me is that the young women and men of the Great Lakes Region ...connected with God's power through channels rooted in the liturgical, justice, charismatic and evangelical traditions. And, at the center, they found Jesus.

We’ve always known that central to the value on relationships was reconciliation – isn’t that, after all, near and dear to the heart of the gospel? God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself. But if you’re in metro Detroit and thinking about reconciling relationships then sooner or later you’ve got to address one thing: racial reconciliation. Simply put, metro Detroit is plagued by racism. It is one of our metropolitan sins. So, the question is, would we live what we said we believed.

Since we’re members of body of Christ by virtue of “I am a Christian,” it follows that the church is a place we learn to love across political divide. Or it better be if it’s a real church and not just a Christian club.
